Latest news

Hi there.
It has been a while since my last post. A few days ago I received an advice that reminded me of the purpose I started the blog. So let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

About a month ago, I had a conversation with an old classmate from university, who informed me about him and his wife expecting a baby very soon. I asked if I could send them a baby blanket as a gift (I could knit or crochet baby blankets forever!!) and he accepted my gift. Since they did not know if they were having a boy or a girl, I went to Pleko yarn shop here in Chania, and found my friends Julie and Maria, who helped me choose the colours of the new blanket. This is what we picked and I was very happy with them. They are Cozy Soft, by Ella Rae, and are 25% Superwash Wool and 75% Acrylic.

I sent an image to my friend and he approved, so it was a good choice.

The design that I chose was crochet chevron that I had learnt in the crochet lessons from Nov-2015.I will share an image of the finished blanket after it is delivered to my friends, so that I don’t spoil the surprise!
In the meanwhile, I am making progress with the knit-along blanket. I have connected seven rows now and I am knitting the last 3 blocks that I had left. My skills on connecting the blocks are not as delicate as I would love them to be, and I have come to realize that depending on what kind of knitting style I am using (and on the pattern of course) my blocks have slight differences, which I will post another time. However, I still love them and here’s my progress so far.
Another project that is on its way, is the “LOVE QAL” that has been organized by the Hellenic patchwork group on FB “Και στην Ελλάδα αγαπάμε το πατσγουορκ”. I am using the template from Megan Pitz’s blog, Canoe Ridge Creations, who so generously shared this free design and I thank her for this. This is my progress, only one heart so far, but want to make another one!! It’s completion date is on February 14th.
I will re-edit my post to add Greek text as well. Thank you for reading.
Till next time,
Be well and safe.
