Knit-along blanket in progress

As the title states, this post will be about the progress I have made so far on one of my unfinished projects, my blanket from a knit-along that I got from my friend Julie, who owns the “Pleko” yarn shop in Chania. And as promised, this post will be in Greek too, for anyone who wishes to read my blog. Apparently, when I announced my last blog post on FB, it received a very warm welcome from all of my friends, for which I will be forever grateful!!

So the story with this project is the following: I received the weekly designs, chose my yarns and colors, and started knitting. Week 1 was the following design:

A small notice to readers, I consider myself a beginner/intermediate knitter, I do my best and I am willing to learn new patterns and techniques. Week 2 was the following design, which I ripped and restarted 3 times, until I figured out what I was supposed to do:

Week 3 was the star:

Week 4 was the heart, of which I made the first one, and then decided that the heart was slightly pointy at the sides and decided to change it and make it curvier in the next blocks:

Week 5 was the lace kisses, which was pretty straightforward since I had managed to do the week 2 design:

Week 6 was the French plait, which I think I knitted last, because I got so scared of it (little did I know, or remember that I would have to knit a plait border at the end!!!)

Week 7 was the bricks, which was quick and fun to make:

Finally, week 8 was the English rib. Ok. I admit I only made one (youtube helped a lot!!!) and then I decided to go back to the week 6 French plait, which seemed easier than this. And I made a mistake, which I saw at the end, and of course I never intend to correct. I will make the remaining 3 blocks of this, after I assemble the rest of the blocks and connect them. Did I mention how difficult I think this is? I don’t know which is more difficult, to connect them altogether or to make the English rib? Oh boy…

So, here it is. I have managed to connect some of the blocks together. I connect them by row and then, each row with the next one. So far four rows have been connected, not very happy with the connection, I am very impatient at this point and to tell the truth, I find it so boring… oh, don’t forget the braid for the border; I started making the braid, before I began connecting the blocks together. And block 8 is still missing 3 pieces.

There will be a follow up on this post, to show the final connected blanket. I already love it. I loved it since I bought the yarn. It is so soft and nice to knit with. It’s Big Merino by Drops = LOVE!!!
Until next time, be safe and happy!!!
Thank you for reading this long post!!!
